Replying to your UCAS Conservatoires offers

We'll let you know when a conservatoire makes a decision about your application. You'll then need to reply to offers online. Find out more.

How and when to reply

Your reply date will be displayed in your application. If you do not reply by the date given, your offers will be declined automatically. The reply date may be different to other people's as it's based on when you received your last decision.

You may only be able to accept one offer as a first choice, or you may be able to accept two offers and state your first and second choices. This depends on the type of offers you have.

  • If you accept a guaranteed unconditional (GU) offer, you cannot accept any other offer as a second choice, and must decline (D) all other offers.
  • If you accept a GU offer as your second choice and your first choice (VU or VC) is unsuccessful, you will have a place at your second choice.
  • If you accept a guaranteed conditional (GC) offer as your first choice, you'll also be expected to take up this place provided you
  • meet the conditions. You cannot accept any other offer as a second choice. You must decline (D) all other offers.
  • If you accept a GC as your second choicebut you've met the conditions of the offer and your first choice (VU or VC) is unsuccessful, you will have a place at your second choice.
  • If you accept a reserve unconditional (VU) or a reserve conditional (VC) offer as your first choice, you may accept any type of offer as your second choice.
  • If your first choice is a reserve conditional (VC1) or a reserve unconditional (VU1) and the conservatoire changes it to a guaranteed offer (GC1 or GU1), then your second choice will automatically be rejected.

2. What happens if I accept a reserve conditional or reserve unconditional  VC or VU?

  • If there is a vacancy at the conservatoire and you've met the conditions of the reserve conditional (VC only), the conservatoire may make you a guaranteed offer.
  • If your first choice is a reserve conditional or reserve unconditional (VC1 or VU1) and the conservatoire changes it to a guaranteed offer (GC1 or GU1), your second choice will automatically be rejected.

If you accept any type of offer other than a GU as your first choice, we'll send you a letter if this becomes a guaranteed unconditional place.

If you do not obtain a guaranteed unconditional place at your first choice, we'll send you a letter if your second choice becomes a guaranteed unconditional place.

3. When will I know if I have a place?

4. What happens if I'm also applying through UCAS Undergraduate and have confirmed places in both?

  • If you make an application through more than one of our application systems (UCAS Conservatoires or UCAS Undergraduate) you cannot hold more than one confirmed place. In UCAS Undergraduate this is an unconditional firm (UF) place.
  • If you do receive more than one confirmed place, we'll ask you to accept one and withdraw from any others.

5. How do I withdraw my application?

  • You can withdraw your whole application at any time.
  • No refund is given, unless you're withdrawing within 14 days of submitting your original application – then please contact us.
